My Beauty Favourites of 2017

There is something so special about reflecting over a year, whether that be memories, trips, achievements, or in this case my favourite beauty products! Some of the products mentioned are new discoveries, while others are being re-discovered... some even I have titled the holy grail! With out further ado, here are A FEW of my favourite beauty products of 2017!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette: Although I have had this palette for years, it remains one of my favourites. I love that I can go for a more natural looking eye, but in the same palette achieve a perfect smokey eye or add a little shimmer for a night out! This palette gives you the ability to achieve a variety of eye looks and is long lasting for all day wear.

Essie 'Lace Me Up' Nail Polish: No matter what season or occasion, this polish is my go to. The perfect pale pink compliments my skin tone perfectly! Not only is the packaging adorable, but it is beyond easy to apply and always turns out looking like I was to a salon.

Sephora Wishes Come True Eyes and Face Makeup Palette: This limited edition palette was a gift to me last Christmas and it has easily made its way onto my favourites list! The super cute packaging instantly draws my attention and the colours inside do not disappoint! My top colours that I always use are Creamy Cashmere, Pretty Pearls and Midnight Magnificence!

Benefit Watt's Up: I received the little sample size from Sephora in my birthday gift a few years ago. It is extremely long lasting, a little goes a long way. Although I do not use highlighter everyday, I find this one to be my favourite. Easy to apply and blend, I hope my sample never runs out!

Sephora Collection Tweezers: I will be the first to admit that I own quite a few tweezers, but none compare to this one I picked up at Sephora.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer: I have used many primers, but I always end up coming back to this one. A little primer goes a long way, leaving my skin smooth and foundation looking natural.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer: The shade Park Ave Princess is my all time favourite bronzer. The shade compliments my skin tone perfectly and this package has lasted me well over a year... you are without a doubt getting your moneys worth!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush: Although I use many of their blushes, the shade 'Mirage' has been my favourite... I will admit that I have hit pan and I am hoping to one day have a replacement in my possession.  This blush is long lasting, easy to apply and blend and has the most adorable packaging and design!

Essie 'Good As Gold' Nail Polish: When I am feeling a little festive or need a little pick me up, I will paint my nails this beautiful gold colour. Easy to apply and goes with any outfit or occasion I highly recommend this colour! ... I'll let you in on a little secret... I'm wearing it right now!

Warm Vanilla Sugar Bubble Bath and Shower Gel: My all time favourite scent from Bath & Body Works is Warm Vanilla Sugar! I collect all things from the hand sanitizer, candles and body spray in this scent! There is no better way to end a long day then soaking in a luxurious bubble bath!

invisibobble Power Traceless Hair Rings: Some people may not know this about me, but I have very thick hair. It is almost impossible to find hair ties that won't stretch or snap... that is until I found these hair rings. They have an extra strong grip, causes no split ends, is anti-allergic and leaves no trace that it was even in your hair! There is not a day that goes by that I am not wearing one of these!

If you would like to see some more of my 2017 favourites, that may include fashion, recipes, bloggers, youtubers, etc. Let me know in the comments below!

I wish you all an amazing 2018! May it be filled with love, happiness, and the ability to achieve all of your goals!

thredUP Try On Haul

Happy Wednesday! If you have been reading my blog for a while, you guys would know that I'm all about saving money and am constantly looking for deals ... well I think may have found the best one yet! On my recent order with thredUP I saved $105.03! I have heard of thredUP through other bloggers and youtubers, and I'm excited to say that they now ship to Canada!

For those who have no idea what thredUP is, let me give you a quick summary! thredUP is a 'fashion resale website for consumers to buy and sell secondhand clothing online.' A few features that I love about the site is you can easily browse stock and can search by brand, size, clothing type, etc. Also, probably the best feature (although I have yet to try)  is that you can recycle your old clothing through them! You can order a Clean Out Bag and fill it with like-new women's and kids clothing while earning a little cash or credit.

As a Canadian, this gives me a way to purchase brands not sold in Canada, and all at a very good price!

Below are the three items I purchased from thredUP! Leave a comment letting me know which one is your favourite!

Puella Pullover Sweater- Original Price $71.00 - Purchased Price $10.99
I love everything about this piece. The fit, the feel, the style, everything is so flattering and well made. Not only can I wear this during the warmer months, I can also pair it with a cardigan or little jacket when the weather gets cooler.

Alya Cardigan- Original Price $45.00 - Purchased Price $11.99
I'm a sucker for long cardigans. This one is perfect for work as it has Three Quarter Length Sleeves so I won't get to hot, but also will be warm as the weather is getting cooler. Paired with a pair of little brown booties, I can't wait to wear this all fall and winter!

Forever 21 Long Sleeve Button Down- Original Price $20.00 - Purchased Price $7.99
Im very picky when it comes to flannel shirts. As a Canadian, it is a staple piece in my wardrobe and I was not disappointed with this one. The quality was as if it was brand new, and fit me perfectly! I love that I can pair this with a cardigan, vest or jacket and no matter how I wear it, I will always look put together!

I am so happy with all of my items, I will absolutely be purchasing from thredUP in the future and I highly recommend you give it a try!

* This is not a sponsored post, all items were purchased with my own money and all opinions are my own.

15 THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY TO START DECLUTTERING

Within the past month or so I have become very interested and invested in decluttering and organizing my life. I have come to realize that I have acquired a lot of 'junk' over the years that has been taking up space and collecting dust.

Fun fact about me: I am someone who loves and craves clean space. My counters, desk, and surfaces need to clear of debris and only have the necessities!

  1. Manuals: Everyone has old manuals for microwaves, ovens, toasters, etc. Not only are they taking up space and collecting dust,  but there is a very good chance that you can find the manual online or troubleshoot through sites such as google.
  2. Mysterious Cords: Speaking from personal experience, I know I have cords laying in drawers and to be honest I have no idea what they belong to. If I cannot match the cord to any electronic or device, there is a high percentage that I no longer have the item and no longer need the cord.
  3. Cookbooks: My first tip is to go through all of your cookbooks and pick out your favourite recipes, then compile them into a homemade cookbook. My second tip is to utilize sites such as Pinterest when looking up recipes, this will cut down on the hard copy cookbooks you own.
  4. Mismatch Socks: If you are like me, you probably have a few lone socks laying around waiting for their pair to mysteriously show up, but I can almost always guarantee that it won't be found.  Toss the sock without its mate, its just collecting dust and taking up space.
  5. Dried Out Pens: You'd be shocked at the amount of dried out pens I have. Every few months I like to go through them and toss the ones that no longer work as in the future I would have just picked it up, went to use it, then got frustrated when I realized I would have to find a new one.
  6. Old Magazines: First ask yourself  'Am I going to read this again?' If your answer is yes, then keep it, but if you are like me, that magazine will be sitting around, unread, years from now. I always used the excuse 'What if I need to make a collage?', but lets be honest, I have never had to make one.
  7. Junk Drawer: Although they come in handy, a 'junk drawer' is not necessary. It just becomes a dumping ground and a cluttered mess. Everything I own needs to have a place, if it doesn't then I must decide if I really need it.
  8. Old/Dried Nail Polish: Guilty. I can admit it. I have dozens of nail polish that I haven't worn in years and they are almost always dried up and no longer wearable. I tend to have a few colours that I always end up wearing on repeat, and lets be honest, if I need a certain colour for a specific outfit or event, I can guarantee one of my friends has one I can borrow. There is no need to hang onto all of these colours, although pretty.
  9. Shoes That Hurt to Wear: Most people have a pair of shoes that they curse whenever they wear them. Whether they are too small or just don't fit right, toss them. They are not worth the physical pain and heartache of wearing them.
  10. Mismatch Tupperware: I'm not sure how it happens, but I have numerous Tupperware that have lost its lid or the lid has lost its container. Some nights it takes me a few minutes just to find a matching pair. My advice is to empty the drawer, match everything that has a pair and toss the ones that don't. You won't be finding its mate no matter how hard you search.
  11. Prom Dress: If I was smart, I would have sold it in the years that followed my prom. I always hung onto the dress thinking 'What if I get asked to another prom?', but I'm now 23 years old and can say that I was never asked to another prom and if I was, I would have bought another dress.  6 years later, the dress is now out of style and is just sitting in my closet collecting dust. Now, although I am not tossing my dress at this moment, I will be donating it to my old High School come prom season.
  12. Old School Assignments/Notebooks: I still have notebooks and assignments from high school. Why? I have no idea. I have never once went back to use the information or read them. Unless you know and can guarantee that you will use and need the information again one day, toss it. The same thing applies to university. Unless it a course specific to your degree, you most likely will not be needing those scribbled class notes again.
  13. Costume Jewelry: Jewelry is one of those items I think multiples. How did I acquire 12 pairs of diamond stud earrings? I have no idea. I recently donated almost half of my jewelry as it was items I haven't worn since junior high or I had 3 or 4 of the same item. I only kept the sentimental pieces, the ones I wear daily and ones I absolutely know I will wear in the future.
  14. Old Textbooks: I have almost a dozen old textbooks in my basement collecting dust. I always told myself that I may need them again, and to be honest, I have never gone back and read them. Heck, I hardly read them when I was enrolled in the classes. One regret I have is not selling them once finished with them. Not only am I now stuck with old, dusty textbooks, but they are now out of date as new editions have been published and I am now out of some extra cash.
  15. Social Media: This may be the easiest yet hardest thing to declutter. Although it is not a physical item, it still piles up and gets cluttered. I recently went through my Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and got rid of those people who I no longer talk to or (sorry not sorry) no longer care about. We all have those individuals you knew in High School but you can no longer read their daily statuses that are nine times out of ten complaining or bashing someone or something. You don't need that negativity in your life. Social media can be stressful, get rid of that stress and just keep your close friends and family (and your old high school crush you want to keep tabs on).
Although not all of these items may apply to you, I hope this will give you a start to decluttering and make you ask 'Do I really need this?'.  I would also love to know what items are easy for you to declutter? Mine would have to be clothes. I can now easily weed through the collection and donate the ones I no longer wear!

My Experience with Marleylilly

Want to know a fun fact about me? ... Although I may live on the East Coast of Canada, I still love all things southern. Their lifestyle, colleges, houses, food, clothing and most importantly everything monogrammed. I was recently scrolling through Facebook and an ad for Marleylilly appeared, having not heard of this company before I decided to check them out and I am so glad that I did!

Marleylilly is a super cute online store based out of South Carolina. They have everything from women's monogrammed shirts, jackets, jewelry, shoes, hats, vests, gifts and so much more.  Their website is easy to navigate, extremely organized, and in my opinion just plain beautiful with all of their fun graphics and bright colors.

Features that I love about their website:
  • When you first open their site you are welcomed with a FREE GIFT, usually a piece of jewelry. Once you you provide your email address they will send you a promo code for your free gift that you can than use on your order.
  • At the bottom of the page you will find a section called 'Monogram Bloopers'. As they say on their site "We're only human, so sometimes we make mistakes. Search for your monogram to discover already personalized and non-personalized products up to 70% off!" I love, love, love this section.
  • In the States, they offer free shipping on orders over $75.
  • They frequently have Flash Sales with TONS of reduced clothing, accessories, etc.
  • At the top of the page is a link to their other boutique, Monday Dress, which has hundreds of beautiful clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc.  Although the items are not monogrammed it is still a site I highly recommend checking out.
After filling my cart with countless items, it was time for the difficult task of narrowing down my items to just two or three (especially since shipping was not free to Canada). After a hard time deciding as it was all such beautiful clothing, this is the shirt I decided to go with!
(sorry for the awkward lighting!)

*I would like to mention that all items were bought with my own money and opinions are my own. However, I would be open to collaborating with Marleylilly or similar clothing companies in the future if the opportunity presents itself!

Farewell Summer 2017

I'm in denial that I am currently writing this post, how can summer possibly be over? I feel as though I blinked and summer disappeared... Now with that being said,  I will be the first to admit that I did not accomplish all of the things on my 'summer to do list', but I did have an amazing summer spent with friends, family, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Over the years I have come to realize that if you ask someone what summer means to them, you may get a variety of answers. Everyone has their own traditions, vacations, memories, etc. I love that a simple season can have such a different meaning to every individual.

As a send off to summer 2017 I thought I would share with you what summer means to me. Enjoy!

Summer Is...

  • Long scenic walks to clear my head.
  • Late night drives with no destination in mind.
  • A visit to Peggy's Cove. Natures beauty only a 20 minute drive from home.
  • Countless hours spent lounging in the pool.
  • Beach days. From anywhere in Nova Scotia you're no more than 67km from a beach.
  • Kayaking around the lake with friends.
  • Road Trips. This summer was to beautiful Prince Edward Island (make sure you check out my travel diary if you haven't already) and Moncton, New Brunswick.
  • Planning a surprise 25th Wedding Anniversary party for my parents. They deserve the world.
  • Campfires with delicious smores.
  • Patio drinks with friends.
  • Laying out under the stars wondering what else is out there?
  • Ice-cream, lots and lots of ice-cream.
  • Working full time then wondering where all of your money went when it comes time to pay tuition.  (oops!)
  • Visiting my cottage, my all time favourite place in the world.
  • Blueberry picking.
  • Seeing my cousins almost weekly, they truly are like sisters to me.
  • The freedom to lay in bed all day without having to worry about tests, assignments, etc.
  • Binge watching new shows on Netflix.
  • Eating vegetables straight from the garden.
  • Driving around jamming to music with your best friend.

What does summer mean to you? Leave a comment letting me know and maybe it will make an appearance on my Summer 2018 to do list!

Thank you Summer 2017. You won't be forgotten.

Planning A Vegas Bachelorette Party

Planning a bachelorette party can be a daunting, time consuming task for any maid of honour or bridesmaid.  I recently participated in Vegas.com's bachelorette campaign and would love to share some helpful tips, tricks and suggestions to make the party planning experience more organized, fun, and enjoyable.

Are you planning a Vegas bachelorette party and have no idea where to start? To help get you started, think about these points:
  1. Ask your bride if she is more comfortable with a Mild or Wild party.
  2. Decide when, where and how long you will be staying in Vegas. Having trouble deciding? Use this page to find travel and hotel packages.
  3. Make a small itinerary. Decide what shows, excursions or clubs you would like to see or what best suits your party.
  4. What essentials would you pack? What will the weather be like? Are you planning on having matching outfits, t-shirts made, etc?
Below you will find information on where to stay, dine, drink, play and shows you can take in while exploring Vegas all easily broken down into the category of a Wild or Mild party!

Also included is a fun Vegas Bachelorette Scavenger Hunt for you and your party to print off or screenshot. This fun and easy hunt can be done by both small or large parties and take a little stress off of planning!

GUEST POST: Most Wearable Fall 2017 Trends at a Glance!

Most Wearable Fall 2017 Trends at a Glance!
Fall 2017 collections were full of surprises, and there was something for every girl. While some designers tried to redefine the classics with newer elements, others chose to work with colour palettes and prints in ways that didn’t feel like the “fall”. In this special post, we will talk of the top trends of fall 2017 and how you can get these looks right!

Velvet for the lady: Velvet is a true fall classic in many ways. It has a soft and feminine appeal that works for varied outfits. Last year, fall collections had a lot of velvet, but mostly in shoes and handbags. In 2017, you will see more of staples, right from dresses to outfits that have a splash of velvet. Top designers and labels like Jason Wu and Jill Stuart worked with velvet in a number of ways, and the colour palette was anything but ordinary. If a full outfit seems too much, you can take a shot at skirts and tops too.

Say it loud: The world is dealing with a lot of serious concerns, and designers have found the right way to voice their opinions. From Ashish’s amazing focus on feminism to Prabal Gurung’s stunning take on the immigrant problem, there were so many new statements. Basically, you are just saying your mind with a slogan tee. The good thing is you don’t need to spend on expensive outfits. Just check online or get one customized locally. It’s all about being in style, and with a purpose for sure.

Silver girl: Well, a lot of designers also worked with silvery elements, both for shoes and outfits. These are not metallic, but subtler and wearable. Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors and Genny were some of the names that worked with this trend. You can go for dresses, which can be edgy, but if that seems over the top, you can also choose to go for shoes and handbags too. In short, this trend is not going anywhere in near future.

I love power: One of the better and wearable trends this season was power suits. If you are someone who moves from one boardroom to another, you need these suits that have a more masculine feel, thanks to broad shoulders. You can get one tailored from a local store or can check online to find other options. Some of the designers/labels you can check for this trend include Calvin Klein and Max Mara.
It’s important to mention that puffer jackets made a comeback this season, and for those who need something warm for the season, this is the best pick beyond any doubt.
Hope you had fun with this post. For more on fashion and style, you can follow this amazing blog. Until we meet again, stay in vogue!

MY FIRST YOUTUBE VIDEO: PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND TRAVEL DIARY

IT HAS FINALLY HAPPENED! I have made my first youtube video! I realize the quality is not the best, but the good news is... I can only get better from here. It would mean the world to me if you could show some support and subscribe to my channel as I plan on doing fun videos, giveaways and so much more!

August 3-5th, my family and I travelled to beautiful Prince Edward Island. Below is information of some of the sights, attractions, food, and much more featured in the video.  Enjoy!

Kindred Spirits Inn & Cottages: "Located on six acres in the heart of Cavendish and literally next door to Anne of Green Gables, Kindred Spirits is a quiet sanctuary in the middle of Cavendish, PEI."
A pool and hot-tub located off the Inn, bikes to rent, playground, fire-pit, outdoor activities, games room and so much more, Kindred Spirits is the perfect getaway for all ages.

My family rented a two bedroom deluxe cottage and it fit the seven of us comfortably, it included:
  • Master Bedroom: King Bed
  • Second Bedroom: Queen or Double plus a single bed
  • Full eat-in kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and dishwasher
  • Large living room with a double sofa bed and fireplace
  • Full bath
  • Some units have a second bath (ensuite)
  • Electric Heat
  • All dishes and linens provided
  • Dishwasher
  • Cable TV and DVD players
  • Propane BBQ
  • Air Conditioning
  • 6-8 person private hot-tub (MY FAVOURITE PART)
  • Front veranda and back deck

The Dunes Studio Gallery and Café: Located in Brackley Beach, Prince Edward Island, The Dunes has breathtaking grounds, unique and creative items located in their Gallery and the most delicious food you will taste in the café. Although the atmosphere was very relaxed and staff were dressed in cool, funky clothing, it was one of the most elegant dining experiences I have ever had.  I enjoyed the Grilled Filet Mignon, Fire Grilled Beef Tenderloin topped with Braised Mushrooms in a Chianti Demi Glace Sauce. Served with Potato of the Day (Mashed with cheddar and turnip) and a Medley of Vegetables.

Cavendish Beach: On the Gulf of St. Lawrence, this natural sand beach stretches for 8km with the red sandstone cliffs on one end and the entrance to New London Bay on the other. The beach is located within The Prince Edward Island National Park and has lots of parking, changing rooms, washrooms and a canteen. Want a break from relaxing on the beach? Take a stroll along the beautiful boardwalk.
