Wedding Guest Style Guide

Wedding season is fast approaching and if you are anything like me, you will be left wondering what to wear. Whether you have to dress casual, formal, semi-formal, beach attire, or black tie, below is a Wedding Guest Style Guide will that will hopefully calm those nerves and inspire your next wedding outfit!

Weather: No matter the weather, the key is to be prepared. Always check the forecast before you leave, bring layers and dress accordingly!

Venue: Whether you are celebrating at a church, vineyard, barn, or even a backyard the venue can play a major role in deciding on the perfect outfit.

Required Attire: Don't go against the dress code, not only will you stand out like a sore thumb, but it can be seen as disrespectful. You friends getting married have spent a lot of time planning their dream wedding and you should respect their choices!

Additional Tips:

  • Be respectful! Don't wear white or any shade of off-white unless requested to do so. The bride is more than likely going to be wearing white, it's her day to shine!
  • A casual dress code doesn't mean sweats.  It's better to be overdressed than underdressed.
  • If you are worried about comfort, try dressing in loose, soft and light-weight fabrics.
  • Stay away from jeans, rips and holes, even if they are part of the design or look you are going for. Instead, try incorporating cute cut-outs, low back, or funky designs.
  • If planning to wear heels, make sure you wont be walking on soft grass, dirt, etc.
  • Buying a "new look" for every wedding can be expensive. I recommend using rental sites such as Black Tux. They give you the option of renting a suit or tuxedo at an affordable price. With so many styles and colour options, you'll always look stylish and unique!

What are you wearing to an upcoming wedding!? Let me know in the comments!

Spring Style: Finding The Perfect Shades

Spring and warmer weather are so close I can feel it, I am counting down the days until I can break out my favourite sunglasses! In this post I am sharing Warby Parker's Quintessentials Collection which launches TODAY! They have so many adorable styles, there is a pair perfect for everyone!

For those who may not know about this awesome brand, Warby Parker was founded with a rebellious spirit and a lofty objective: to offer designer eyewear at a revolutionary price, while leading the way for socially conscious businesses.

On top of their awesome styles and selection, Warby Parker is all about giving back! Almost one billion people worldwide lack access to glasses, which means that 15% of the world’s population cannot effectively learn or work. To help address this problem, Warby Parker partners with non-profits like VisionSpring to ensure that for every pair of glasses sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need.

What are your favourite sunglasses from the collection below!? Mine would have to be the classic Raider in Gold!

Spring 2018 thredUP Try On Haul

On my most recent order with thredup I saved $174.05! I have heard of thredUP through other bloggers and youtubers, and I'm excited to say that they now ship to Canada!

For those who have no idea what thredUp is, let me give you a quick summary! thredUP is a "fashion resale website for consumers to buy and sell secondhand clothing online." A few features that I love about the site is you can easily browse stock and can search by brand, size, clothing type, etc. Also, probably the best feature (although I have yet to try) is that you can recycle your old clothing through them! You can order a Clean Out Bag and fill it with like-new women's and kids clothing while earning a little cash or credit!

As a Canadian, this gives me a way to purchase brands not sold in Canada, and all at a very good and affordable price!

Below are the five items I purchased from thredUP!  I stepped a bit out of my comfort zone and made a Youtube video featuring my awesome finds! Leave a comment letting me know which one is your favourite, and if you would like to see more of my amazing thredUP finds, make sure to read my post: thredUP Try On Haul!
